There is probably no greater truism in sports nutrition: The good stuff costs lots of money!
But really that not need be the case when you consider the results of an inexpensive and easy to obtain amino acid called "L-Arginine". It has become the super supplement for those who want decrease in body fat and increased muscle volume. It has resulted also in many side effects - none so far bad!
For instance, in addition to releasing your own human growth hormone (HGH), which is the key to the increase of muscle mass - and its voracious appetite for your body fat, it also assists in creation of nitric oxide in your body.
That Nitric Oxide has become recognized as an important component of your immune system, assists in repair of vascular walls, mitigates against clot formation that can lead to strokes, decreases bad cholesterol while boosting the good.
The Mayo Clinic web site notes:
"Arginine changes into nitric oxide, which causes blood vessel relaxation (vasodilation). So you see, this little amino acid has big implications for improved health, muscularity and fat loss. If these appeal to you, great!
There are some things to be quite aware of though in terms of its use.
Best results are at 6 to 10 grams or more daily! That's a lot. The l-arginine I use is packed in one gram capsules. So that’s a total of 10 capsules daily for me.
Recently, in fact that's what led to this hub, I saw a supplement maker hype the L-Arginine and the maker's "proprietary formula" - and then infer all together it gave the positive results. Actually, the great results the ad bragged about were soley the realm of the L-Arginine all by its lonesome.
